In the end our lives become stories, a myriad of both fantastic and tragic events all summed up into what we hope is beautiful evidence of a life well lived.

James David Moore, who went exclusively by David, was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 3, 1944 as one of nine children to Roy and Azie Moore. With a natural tendency towards mischief and adventure, he fit right into his role as the youngest boy. He always emphasized how much he loved a houseful of big sisters who could cook and loved to take care of him.

As a young man, that mischievous nature led him to become a self-taught electrician…not a good one. He was prone to regular "shocks" of various voltages, and at least one incident resulting in him "just jumping" off the ladder very quickly. A mild curse word, a good dusting off, a quick comb through his hair, and a legendary laugh is all it took before he'd climb back up.

David served in the United States Navy from 1962-1966, and his love for this country did not end with his honorable discharge. He was well known to get up early each morning to put up his flag, and take it down each evening. Recently he was in the market for a "large" Statue of Liberty for the front yard, a purchase he waited until after his wife's death to consider. For those of you wondering, no he never did find one.

Possibly one of his greatest adventures of all began with a blind date where he would meet the love of his life, Audrey, whom he would charm for 45 years before her passing in 2019. Together they built a life and family that grew to include 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Needless to say, life was rarely dull and abundantly filled with station wagon road trips, picnics in the Sandias, dancing the Jitterbug, hearty laughter and a million memories to perfectly fill the landscape of a lifetime.

As any author would know, and as difficult as it is, the final chapters of every great story has to be written though. On Friday, September 16, 2022 with his daughter, Deann, at his side he stepped into eternity. David lived his life with such a joyfulness that he would not want you to sit and cry over him for too long. Instead, he would persuade you to sit and enjoy a strong cup of coffee and tell each other all of those almost forgotten memories.

A visitation will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW., on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm with the celebration of life beginning at 3:30 pm. US Navy Honors will be provided.
