Helen Marie Chavez was born July 28, 1949 in Vaughn, New Mexico.  She passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 in Albuquerque.

Helen married Richard "Dickie" Chavez, he was the son of the late Juan and Julia Chavez. They wed around the mid 1960's and they had three children. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

Helen will be remembered as a very kind hearted lady who was always helping others and looking out for them. She loved music and was a devoted fan of Elvis, Little Richard and Fat's Domino. As well, Helen loved to spend time with her treasured family.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Hilario "Lalo" Duran and Esidora "Dora" Duran; her husband, Dickie; brothers, Larry Duran Jr., Tony Duran and Benny Duran and by her son-in-law, Angelo Paytiamo. She is survived by her three children, Michael Angelo Chavez, Lisa Marie Paytiamo and husband Billy and Christopher Richard Chavez and his wife, Helen's beloved daughter-in-law, Vera M. Chavez; sister, Gloria Leyba; brother and sister-in-law, David Lee Chavez and Bina Chavez; special aunts, Osila Lucero and Trinnie Aragon; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church/St. Mary's, 619 Copper Ave SW. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 9:00 am. Deacon Don Roseborough will preside over the Rosary and the Funeral Service. She will then be laid to rest at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery at Coors and Arenal SW.
