It is with broken hearts that the family of Harold Gay, Jr. announce his passing. Harold (affectionately known as "Harry") passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Harry was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on December 3, 1937 to Harold Gay, Sr. and Dorothy Gay. After graduating from Norton High School, Harry proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Harry was in the 2010 AACS (MATS) Unit. After his time in the Air Force, Harry was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Denver, Colorado and then in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he worked until his retirement. Because of his love for his country and for air traffic controlling, he started his second career as an air traffic controller instructor. During this time he worked as a contractor at several locations throughout the world including: Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Jamaica and Afghanistan. Eventually he retired and moved to Las Vegas, NV with his wife Patricia. Harry had a love for gambling – his final career was as a professional gambler. He was exceptionally well (and disciplined) in the games of Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat but his favorite and most profitable game was Craps.
Harry was a lifelong devout Catholic. His integrity, generosity, honesty, work ethic, love of his faith, love for his family and love for his country was unmeasurable. He will forever be loved and missed.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Gay, Sr. and Dorothy Gay, his sister Shirley Smith, two daughters, Jane Duarte and Jennifer Gay as well as two great-grand-daughters.
Harry is survived by his wife, Patricia Gay of North Las Vegas, Nevada daughters Katherine Escandon of El Paso, Texas, Susan Carabajal, Nancy Gay and Patricia (Henry) Martinez all of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Harry is also survived by his step-daughters and their families: Natalie, Antonette (Leo), Shienne (Rolando), Marie (Dan) and Tiffany.
Harry leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved and adored him.
Funeral services for Harold Gay, Jr. will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Mortuary in Las Vegas, NV.
Final services and burial will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico as follows:
On Wednesday April 3, 2024, visitation at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial following. All services at Holy Family Catholic Church 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Burial to follow services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
Reception immediately after the services at American Legion Post 13, 1201 Mountain Rd NE 87102.
Pallbearers will be: Gabriel Hernandez, Tim Cordova, Christopher Trickey, Nicholas Garcia, Patrick Trickey and Jonathan Trujillo.
