Harold Dean Thompson "Dean", Major USAF Retired was a resident of Rio Rancho for 19 years. He passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Dean Honorably served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force for over 20 years.

He loved to fly airplanes and loved to hunt and fish. Dean will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lucille Thompson; two sons, Richard Thompson and Jeff Thompson; three step-children, Anthony Newton, Matthew Newton and Deborah Edwards; brother, Tommy Thompson; sister, Donna Costes; two grandchildren, Rachel and Cassandra; as well as other family member and friends who will miss him.

A viewing will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW., on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 pm with US Air Force Honors.
