Gloria Garcia, age 89, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025. Born on September 6, 1935, Gloria was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth and creativity.

A talented cake decorator, Gloria dedicated most of her adult life to the art of baking. She worked at numerous bakeries in Albuquerque before opening her own business, Gloria's Decorated Cakes, in 1994. Her cakes became iconic in the community, known for their exceptional quality and taste. Gloria believed in providing the best for her customers, stating, "Make it the best cake because the people are spending their hard-earned money and they deserve it." Her most popular creation, "The Banana Split," became a local favorite, and she served her customers with pride until her retirement in 2012 at the age of 77. Gloria's impact on her community and her family will be cherished forever.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Garcia; her son, Raymond Garcia Junior; parents, Jose and Enemecia Archuleta; brothers, Rudy, Jesus, Tony, and by her sister, Irene.

She is survived by her sisters, Annie Sierra and husband Lupe, Nellie Lovato and husband Philip, Lollie Castillo and husband Joe and Hilda Lucatorto and husband Santos and by her brother, Joe M. Archuleta.

Gloria's legacy continues through her children; daughter, Lorraine Gallegos; son, Richard Garcia and wife Gloria; daughter, Evelyn Garcia and husband Martin; daughter, Marsha Garcia; son, Oscar Garcia and wife Candie Garcia; several nieces and nephews.  She will also be deeply missed by her 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
