Glenda Jane Butler Hawkins, 85, died peacefully at her home in Albuquerque, NM, under the loving care of family members and Presbyterian Hospice staff.  Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, David Hawkins (1995), brothers Robert Butler (2021) and Patrick Butler (2022), and sister Karen Brown (2017). Surviving siblings are Betty B. Kelley and Tom Butler, both of Albuquerque, and Kerry Zesiger of Mesa, AZ.

Born in Albuquerque May 29, 1940, Glenda graduated from Albuquerque High School (1958) and George Mason University (BS, 1978);  became a Realtor (1979) and Broker since 1985 in Virginia, with her own successful company there.  After her husband died, she decided to be near family, so she closed her business and returned to Albuquerque in 1991, where she maintained her career, and worked with numerous local realty companies as a Property Manager.

Glenda was very active in the Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors, and enjoyed many days with the Duke City Bridge Club.  Her love of cruising earned her "Elite" status with Princess Cruises and her favorite adventure was a canoe trip up the Amazon River. She was a woman of strong opinions and never hesitated in sharing them. She wrote letters and called her government representatives and decision- makers to "keep them informed." She also had a soft heart and supported animal and human rights efforts. She was always a hard worker, honest and loyal, with integrity and high standards for herself and others.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

No services are planned, at her request.  She will be interred with her husband David in Arlington National Cemetery on its schedule.
