Gilbert Louis Sanchez, age 70, passed away on April 25, 2026. He was born on March 31, 1956, and will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched many lives.

Gilbert proudly served his country in the United States Army and later worked as a truck driver. He was known for his strong work ethic, caring heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. Above all, Gilbert was a devoted father and grandfather who deeply loved his family.

Gilbert enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hiking, hunting, and camping. He also loved working on cars, playing pool, and foosball. Whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or making others laugh, he brought warmth and joy to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelica Symonds and Ralph Sanchez.

Gilbert is survived by his children Bernadette Martinez and husband Mario, and Jordan Sanchez; his beloved grandchildren Isaac Martinez, Isabella Martinez, and Ryver Sanchez; and his siblings Evelyn Symonds and husband Jaime Ramos, Lilian Madrid and husband Ben Madrid, Manuel Sanchez and wife Margaret, and Miguel Sanchez and wife Judy Sanchez. He also leaves behind many loving nephews, nieces, extended family members and dear friends.

Gilbert will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory and the love he shared will remain in their hearts forever.

A service to celebrate Gilbert's life will be held on June 5, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Sagebrush Church 7500 Montgomery Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Burial will follow at 2:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery 501 North Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
