Freda Marie Kurfess

Freda Marie Kurfess was born August 1, 1944. She passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Olive Starks; her husband; three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Stacy; sister, Urma Slover; brother, Bob Starks; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Freda was born to sharecroppers in a small farmhouse outside of Shawnee, Oklahoma. She attended K-12 at Asher school in Asher, OK. Freda worked in the phone industry for Western Electric at their plant in Colorado until her retirement in the late 1990's. She then she moved back to rural Oklahoma with her husband, Tom Kurfess until his passing and finally she moved to New Mexico.

Freda did not wish to have a memorial service, just for friends and family to gather in her honor and reflect with stories and cheer.
