Eva J. Boettcher was born December 24, 1931. She died Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the age of 90.
Eva was born in El Rancho, New Mexico to Nicacio and Bessie Gallegos. Eva moved to Albuquerque to go to Albuquerque Business College. After graduation she went to work at Sandia Laboratories where she met her husband of 63 years.
Eva will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Nana and was very devoted to her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed making and painting pottery, cooking and sewing Halloween costumes and everyday clothing for her two children. She volunteered with the Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls, at the school as a room mother and a library helper where she helped organize and mend the books. Eva enjoyed canning the many fruits and vegetables they grew, along with the salmon the family caught each year.
Eva was an avid traveler. She enjoyed meeting new people everywhere she went. When not traveling Eva went to the YMCA daily for exercise and coffee with her friends. Eva loved music and dancing. Music of all types made her happy.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Laura Lujan, Lillian Salazar and Vera Martinez, and by her brother, Roy Gallegos. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Boettcher; son, Mark Boettcher (Mary) of Centennial, CO, daughter, Karen Ihlein (John) of Albuquerque; sister, Marvine Garcia (Raymond) of Los Alamos, NM; brother, Nick Gallegos (Gloria) of Santa Fe; four grandchildren, Brandon, Nicole, and Erica Ihlein and Elizabeth Boettcher.
A Memorial Service will be held at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 9:30 am. The Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
