Eva Anaya

1929 – 2026

Eva Anaya, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the age of 96. She has now gone home to our Lord.

Eva was the valedictorian of her 1948 graduating class from Albuquerque High School. She dedicated 49 years to serving as a school bus driver for the APS district, safely transporting multiple generations of students. Alongside her husband Mariano, Eva also helped operate their Fruit Stand on Rio Grande Blvd.

Born on February 9, 1929, Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Mariano Anaya (June 25, 1923 – October 1, 1987). She is survived by her sons, Samuel Anaya and his wife Laura, Albert Anaya and his wife Ramona, Randolph Anaya and his wife Josie; along with 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren as well as other family members and friends who loved and will miss her greatly.

Services for Eva will take place at San Jose de Los Duranes Mission Church, 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The viewing will begin at 10:00 am. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with the Mass of Christian burial being celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment will then follow at Mt. Calvary, with a reception afterwards, at Duranes Reception Hall.
