Eugene "Gene" Moraga, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 10, 2021 after a long battle with thyroid cancer. He was born November 13, 1947 in Albuquerque, NM to Carlos and Annie Moraga.

Gene was a kindhearted, giving and selfless person. He was always there for you when you needed him. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy in 1966. When he returned home, he worked towards providing for his family. As a child, he didn't have much so he strived to make something of himself. In 1972 he started his own painting business, and eventually retired 38 years later. He designed and built magnificent homes which he enjoyed doing very much.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Aggie Moraga, daughter Anna DeVargas, Grand-kids Angel DeVargas (Albert Barajas), Randy DeVargas, Alicia Chavez and Gilbert Chavez, and his only great-grand daughter Emmalina DeVargas, who he adored. He also leaves behind his sister Janna Moraga, and nephew Milo Moraga.

He is preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Annie Moraga, son Jerry Moraga, grand-daughter Regina DeVargas, and brother Tony Moraga.

We are so thankful and blessed to have known such a wonderful man. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM 87102.
