Ernestina Padilla, born on November 10, 1959, in Los Angeles, California, passed away on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a spirited and vibrant woman whose warmth, laughter, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.

Ernestina was deeply devoted to her family, especially her beloved daughter, Amanda Santana and her partner Karina Santana and her beloved departed son James Lee Padilla.  She took immense pride and joy in her three grandchildren, Serenity Adams, Isabella Adams, and Madison Adams, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Adam Chavez, and her nieces—Lucinda Thomas, Patricia Brown, and Leticia Chavez—along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 30 years, James Lee Padilla; her son, James Lee Padilla Jr.; her sister, Andrea Chavez; and her parents, Adan and Rebecca Chavez.

Ernestina lived life with passion and joy. She loved dancing, music, books, and bringing people together for fun and celebration. A natural caregiver, she dedicated much of her life to helping others and was known as a "mom to all," offering comfort, guidance, and unconditional love to anyone in need. She found peace and happiness near the water and cherished time spent by the ocean, especially when visiting family and gathering with loved ones.

Her legacy is one of love, strength, and compassion. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4 Th. St. NW, Albuquerque, NM.
