Emeterio "Pete" Chavez, 80, a resident of McIntosh, New Mexico joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday January17, 2023. He was born June 20, 1942 in La Palma, New Mexico.
Pete met and married the love of his life, Lydia, on December 5, 1964. They had three children, daughter, Rhonda and her spouse Robert and her two children, Anthony and his spouse Destiny and his children, Anthony "Fernie", Izzy, Eliah, John, James, Jalynne; son, Sam and partner Eduardo; daughter, Terri and her spouse Jon and their three children, Steven "Shorty", Angelica and Lucille; son, Emet and his spouse Melonie and their six children, Jordan and his spouse Roxane and their four children, Kaylee, Carlie, Adalynn, and Colton Pete, Gabriel and his spouse Amanda their son Brayden; Franklin "Mini", Jessenya, Nyah, and Shelby.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, David and Leonilla Chavez; his brother, Benny and sister, Tillie.
He is survived by his brothers, Frank and deceased wife Fabby, Robert and his spouse Aggie, David and his spouse Irma; sisters, Alice and deceased husband Pat, Sara and spouse Leroy, Cecilia and spouse Wayne, Helen and spouse Leonard and Flora and spouse Arthur. He also was survived and loved by many godchildren along with his nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends which he loved dearly.
Pete was a hard worker. He worked for the City of Albuquerque where he retired. He was very actively involved in the Catholic Church and he and Lydia enjoyed the time they spent as youth ministers for the community. They also participated in the Prison ministry; and they were blessed to be Eucharist ministers.
Pete and Lydia built a home for his family on the ranch where all of his children now reside. He loved to spend most of his time with his family. They traveled as often as they could. He loved to spend time with them at his home away from home in Conchas, NM, where they spent time on the boat and fished until the sun went down. His passion was working on his many project cars. He shared his passions along with his wisdom and knowledge with all, especially with his children and grandchildren as much as he could. He was always there to lend a helping hand or give his words of advice for all who asked.
His Celebration of life will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Moriarty, New Mexico on January 26, 2023. A Rosary will be recited at 10:15 am with a mass following at 11:00 am, with Fr. Adrian Sisneros, Celebrant.
He will be laid to rest at "The Chavez Ranch" in McIntosh NM. 270 Marshall Rd, Estancia, New Mexico 87016.
The Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Anthony, Samuel, Steven, Jordan, Gabriel and Franklin. Honorary Pallbearers are all of his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
