Elizabeth Muniz "Liz" was called Home by our Lord on Tuesday, November 8 ^th , 2022 after a brief illness. Born June 16, 1935, she was a Loretto Academy graduate, where she excelled academically, and received a scholarship to Loretto Heights University, and opted to attend Los Angeles Harbor College, receiving an Associate Degree. Liz was an accomplished vocalist and she became lead vocalist with the world renowned, grammy nominated, Perez Prado Orchestra in Los Angeles.  Liz served several years as Santa Fe County Democratic Chairwoman, was also a State and National Democratic Convention Delegate and served as campaign coordinator for several high profile Gubernatorial, and Congressional Campaigns.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Muniz; parents, Cecilio and Genoveva Ortega; brother, Peter Ortega; daughter, Theresa Muniz; and by her granddaughter in law, Mistie Muniz.

She is survived by her son, Alan Muniz; daughter, Leesa Gabaldon and husband Eric; grandson's, Alan Muniz Jr. and girlfriend Della Lobato, Michael Muniz, Antonio Lujan and Jake Gabaldon; granddaughters, Alexis Bonilla, Erica Gabaldon and Sierra Gabaldon; great grandchildren, Orion Muniz, Liam Muniz, Brielle Muniz, Alexander Bonilla, Valentine Muniz, Layla Lovato and Diana Alires; brothers, Cecil Ortega and wife Lorraine, Rudy Ortega and partner George Woolley; sisters, Mary Lou Ortega and Ramona Ortega Garcia; sister in law, Cecilia Ortega; as well as many very special Ortega and Muniz nephews, nieces, and their spouses.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 10:00 am. The burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM at 2:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Ortega, Carl Ortega, Orion Muniz, Michael Muniz, Mario Garcia and Greg Griego.
