In loving memory of Elizabeth "Betty" Halvorson

Betty grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1955.  She received her bachelor's in education from the Wisconsin Teaching College which is now the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and began her teaching career.  She married Gary Halvorson in 1962 and lived in Idaho and Montana before settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1977. While in Montana she was a stay at home Mom raising her 2 daughters. Once moving to Albuquerque, she completed her Master's in Education from the University of Montana in Missoula and became a special education teacher for APS for many years before retiring in 1999.  She is preceded in death by her Father Theodore Kuttler, Mother Ida Marie Kuttler, older brother William "Bill" Kuttler and younger brother Charles "Charlie" Kuttler and husband Gary Halvorson. Betty and Gary were married for 35 years before his untimely death in 1997. She leaves behind two daughters Linda Halvorson Kelley and Dawn Halvorson Sanchez (Sam) along with 2 granddaughters, Miranda and Hanna Sanchez and grandson, Ryan Kelley.

Betty was devoted to her faith as an active member at Asbury United Methodist Church for 47 years where a multitude of lifelong friendships were developed and have sustained her life.  She liked to travel, play the piano, usher at Popejoy and the Albuquerque Little Theatre, read, knit, garden, and she sang in several local choral groups. She also enjoyed "Inquiring Minds" at Bear Canyon Senior Center.  Above all she enjoyed visiting with her many friends and spending time with family. She is very dearly missed by her family and friends!

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10,000 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico where all are welcome to attend.
