Elias Gutierrez

November 17, 1939 - July 25, 2025

Elias Gutierrez was born in Chilili, New Mexico on November 17, 1939, to Vigilio and Josefita Gutierrez. He peacefully fell asleep at home in the arms of Jesus on Friday, July 25, 2025. What a happy reunion Elias and Placida must have had in heaven.

Elias lived his entire life in Chilili where he was a dedicated member of the Chilili Land Grant. He was also an original member of the Chilili Rodeo Club, joining in 1965 .He had cattle and was a farmer working the fields on his tractor. He also had a talent for leather working, making belts, wallets and more. Elias had the best spot in Chilili to go and hangout, the water hole was the best place to end your day telling stories and having a cold one. Nothing ever slowed Elias down; he lived life to the fullest.

Elias loved his wife Placida very much. They were married on September 22, 1960. Their marriage was truly a testament of Love, Faithfulness and Devotion. He was a proud tata to Monica and great-tata to Monica and Marcos son Isaac. His strength and kindness will never be forgotten by all who knew and loved him. Elias was preceded in death by his wife Placida; mom and dad, Josefita and Vigilio and by his brothers, Filimon, Gilberto, Ernest, Frank, Orlando and Reynaldo.

He is survived by his sister, Rose (Noe); brothers, Elfigo (Margie) and Manuel (Nena); many brothers and sisters-in-law, and countless nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Elias will be dearly missed.

Services will take place at Holy Child Catholic Church, 19 Camino Del Santo Nino in Tijeras NM on Monday, August 4, 2025. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. The Burial will follow at the Campo Santo De Chilili Cemetery in Chilili, New Mexico.

Pallbearers will be Elfigo Gutierrez, Manuel Gutierrez, Fernando Gutierrez, Richard Gutierrez, Danny Gutierrez, Max Gutierrez, Noe Jr. Gutierrez, Gil Gutierrez, Ramon Gutierrez, Evey Gutierrez, Vicente Gutierrez, Joe Gutierrez, Pablo Gutierrez and Leroy Ortiz.
