Eddie was born on December 22, 1957, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Onita and Bruce Childers. He was a third-generation owner of Childers Machine & Welding and will be remembered as a great machinist and welder, carrying on his family legacy.
Eddie graduated from Eldorado High School. He raced at Albuquerque Dragway in the 70's and 80's. He married Lorraine Sieler in 1980 and had two sons, Bryan and Ronald.
Eddie enjoyed going to Elephant Butte Lake with family and friends and became a known legend on the beach for his sense of humor, funny pranks and jokes and for often being the last man by the fire at night. The lake was a happy place for him. He often attended NASCAR events and Dallas Cowboy games. Above all, Eddie lived his life enjoying every moment to its fullest.
Eddie passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, after a long battle with cardiovascular disease. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Jewel Childers and by his parents, Bruce and Onita Childers along with many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his two sons, Bryan E. Childers and wife Nina and Ronald W. Childers; his six grandchildren, Jazlyn J. Childers, Shayan R. Childers, Elijah J. Chavez, Thomas B. Childers, Zachary F. Childers and Rex O. Childers; his great-granddaughter, Ayla A. Martinez along with his sister, Sherri Childers; his brother, Jeff Childers; surviving aunts, Deb, Anita, and Sharonas well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends who loved and will miss him.
A celebration of Eddie's life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at El Pinto Restaurant. We invite all family and friends to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Elephant Butte Lake.
A memorial service will be held in the Summer of 2026 at Elephant Butte Lake. These details will be provided closer to the summer.
