Dominic Reyes
Crespin
Oct 1, 1972 — Apr 11, 2026
Albuquerque
Dominic Reyes Crespin, age 53, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on April 11, 2026.
Dominic was born on October 1, 1972, in Cuba, New Mexico to Magdalena and Albert Crespin. He graduated from Cuba High School in 1991 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces in 1998.
Dominic built a remarkable career in photojournalism that spanned more than two decades. For over 23 years, he served as a photojournalist for KRQE-TV in Albuquerque, where he became known not only for his professionalism and skill, but also for his steady presence, sharp eye, and ability to tell powerful stories through the lens of a camera. He later brought those same talents to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, where he produced community awareness and public safety videos that served and informed the public. His work also reached national audiences through sports broadcasts with ESPN, CBS College Sports, HBO Sports, and Fox Sports. In addition, he filmed hundreds of concerts in the area and always said he had the best seat in the house. Among his many accomplishments, he received an Emmy Award for photo editing and was honored as AP Photographer of the Year.
Dominic was deeply passionate about his work and took great pride in mentoring others in the field. He loved the craft of storytelling and found meaning in capturing moments that mattered. Whether through sports broadcasting, public service videos or daily news coverage, he approached his work with dedication and heart. Above all, Dominic will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his kindness, and the love and devotion he gave to his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, April Crespin; his beloved son, Reyes Crespin; his stepchildren, Isaiah Flores and his wife Jenny, Savannah Bauman and her husband Jedadiah; and his beloved grandchildren, Tiras Elfstrom and Carson Bauman. He is also survived by his supportive and deeply devoted family: his parents Magdalena and Albert Crespin; his sister, Geraldine Velasquez and her husband Rafael; and his brother, Jason Crespin.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio and Grace Duran and Justiniano and Frances Crespin, as well as his son-in-law, Seth Elfstrom.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Paradise Hills Golf Course: 10035 Country Club NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6440 US-550, Cuba, New Mexico 87013.
Dominic loved his visors and rarely went out without wearing one. When you see one, we hope you will take a moment to remember him. Dominic will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the stories he told, the lives he touched, and the love he shared so generously. He lived by one word that perfectly described him… "Amor."
