Obituary

Deborah Zaverdas Rash (March 18, 1954 - July 12, 2023) was born to parents Peter and Georgia Zaverdas in Chicago, where she enjoyed life as part of her big Greek family and all of its traditions. She was the cherished and loving wife of Rickey Rash, mother of Kimberly (Reggie) Maestas, and sister of James (Linda) Zaverdas.

Debbie's life was beautifully simple. Everyone who met her knew her fondly as "the girl with the funny giggle." Nothing was too small to get the giggles going. And every musical tune would start her shoulder shimmies. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities and to embrace life with a childlike innocence.

She and Rick embarked on an adventurous move to New Mexico later in life out of pure desire to be near Kimberly. They all enjoyed her last years, full of giggles and shimmies, to the very last day.

In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks to instead make a donation in Debbie's memory to the Lewy Body Dementia Fund of the American Brain Foundation. https://give.americanbrainfoundation.org/give/346929
