Obituary

Danny Lee Sanchez, 76, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died in hospice on Sunday, October 16th, 2022.  He was born September 14th, 1946 to Fred and Louisa (Pacheco) Sanchez.

Danny is survived by his son DJ; grandson, Jude; long time special partner, Patricia (Pat) Lucero; her daughter, Donna; nephew, Jonathan Sanchez and by his niece, Tamara Sanchez.  The youngest of his family, he was the last remaining survivor of his 12 other siblings with his twin brother Don preceding him in death by 8 years.

Danny was an ambulance driver in the 1970s and then corrections officer at Bernalillo County Detention Center until 1990 where he attained the rank of Captain.  Forced into disability with kidney failure, eventually he received a kidney transplant that served him for 20 years until his death.  Despite his medical challenges, Danny was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and devoted dog owner.  For any given day, you could see Danny wearing one of his many Dallas Cowboys caps and jackets walking his dog around his residence.  He also enjoyed the local casinos, vacations to Laughlin, Nevada, woodworking, and drawing.  A private memorial will be held at a later date.
