Christopher S. Velasquez went to heaven on Sunday, January 19, 2025.  Chris was born on July 21, 1979, in Albuquerque NM to Veronica Velasquez and Gilbert Velasquez. Chris cherished his time with friends and family even if it was for a short period. Although Chris was nonverbal, he had a powerful mind which allowed him to communicate by expressing his wants and thoughts. He had a way to touch so many to ensure he understood what made them happy. His ability to sense a person's mood through facial and body expressions was like no other. Chris graduated from West Mesa in 1998 where he attended ROTC. Chris's passion for Comic Con, collecting movies, and music CDs is what kept him enjoying life. Chris also collected pictures of everyone he cared for to share his love for them with anyone who came around him. Chris was part of the Rio Rancho Rockets Special Olympics, and enjoyed bowling, swimming and mostly being a goalie for poly hockey to be close to his special friend Erin Stalf. Chris will be greatly missed by all who know him, but especially his dad. They were the best bachelors who took care of each other.

Chris is preceded in death by his mother Veronica Velasquez, his sister Stephanie Velasquez, and his nephew Devon Bartlett.

Chris is survived by his father Gilbert Velasquez, his nephew Dylan Bartlett: wife Natalie, his great niece Lilja and great Nephew Zen, along with numerous uncles, aunts and cousins and friends.

A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am with reception to follow at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
