Charlie Chavez was born August 12, 1947 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 with his loving family by his side.

Charlie will be remembered for his love of car racing, especially drag strip and circle dirt track racing. One of his greatest delights was helping his grandson build a car and being able to watch him race it.

Charlie also enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his treasured family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Catarino and Fulgencia Chavez; brother, Fred Chavez Sr; sister, Juanita Gonzales; and by his nephew, Fred Chavez Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Maria Gina Chavez of the family home in Albuquerque; two children, Charlie Chavez Jr, and wife Cece; Jessica Chavez and husband Chris Jackson; five grandchildren, Leo Chavez, Isaac Jackson, Melody Jackson, Vanessa Castillo, Angel Baca; 8 great grandchildren, Tamica, Danessa, Emilio, Josiah, Vicente, Mathias, Jacob and Aaron;  as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him greatly.
