Charlie Chavez, age 82, died on February 28,2022 at 4:16am. He succumbed to his battle with cancer.

Charlie Chavez was born November 5, 1939 in Albuquerque to Willie B. and Ageda Chavez.  Charlie was one of 6 children that was born to them. He is survived by his older brother Alonzo Chavez.

His family was from the North Valley, to include Chavez road, being named after his grandfather.

He married his wife Marie C. Lopez August 2, 1969. The two have remained married for over 52 years.

Charlie was a skilled craftsman in construction industry specializing in brick and block onary. His accomplishments include block and brick walls, houses and fireplaces. He helped build ABC Bible Church and a church in the Navajo nation. This was for the Starlight Bible Mission.

His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren remember him as someone to play with, learn Bible stories or help with things no matter how tired he was.

Charlie had a fiery personality and loved to debate politics. The plus in this was that he loved to share Gods Word with everyone that he met.

He was known for his love of Dunkin Donuts coffee.

He. Is survived by his wife Marie, son Charles Chavez, daughter Miriam and her husband Mike Freeman. His grandchildren Charles and wife Allyson Chavez, Anthony and wife Alexandra Chavez, Hannah and Matthew Freeman. Great grandchildren Brody Sena and Charles Chavez.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano Rd. NW at 9:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for a donation in Charlies name to the Albuquerque Rescue mission or the Juvenile Diabetes foundation.
