Charlie (Charles Anthony Wiley) traveled the world and now he has "ridden off into the sunset" on another journey.  He was born in Ankara, Turkey, grew up in Albuquerque, NM, and followed in his father's footsteps for a 25-year Air Force career starting in Incirlik, Turkey.  He was "cool" in Limestone, Maine in the winter and "hot" in Phoenix, Arizona in the summer, with stations in Nevada and Nebraska along the way.  He deployed in support of Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Southern Watch, and Provide Comfort with many years spent in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan.  He was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals.

He had an enduring love of soccer from his time as goalie on the state winning Albuquerque Academy Soccer Team to playing with Americans and others all over the world.  Charlie was a team player and served his country well.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen M. Wiley, and his father, Col. (ret. Air Force) Willard Charles (Doc) Wiley.  He is survived by his sisters Pamela Lucille Wiley and Roxanne Kay Wiley, his nephew Aaron Charles Wiley, and the many friends he cared deeply about that supported him through his life and his final battle with cancer.

Charlie was known for his great sense of humor, love of food, generosity, and willingness to always help those in need.  Many a tiny older person had their groceries carried to their car by 6'4" "Charming Charlie" and no animal wanted for anything on his watch.
