Cecelia M. Cook "Sheila"

August 5, 1952 – January 18, 2025

Cecelia M. Cook, lovingly known as Sheila, was born on August 5, 1952, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to her parents Ramona and Procopio Montoya. Raised in Santa Fe, Cecelia grew up surrounded by her siblings: Nancy, Manuel, Patsy, Maryanne, Richard, Ronnie, Helen, and Phillip, as well as two sisters who passed away at an early age. At the age of 15, Cecelia met the love of her life, Clifford Cook. Their love story blossomed over the years, and they eventually married. Clifford was Cecelia's first and only love, and together they built a life filled with love and family. They were blessed with five children: Mona, Nancy, Rebecca, Kimberly, and Joseph. Cecelia and Clifford enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage before Clifford passed away in 2021 due to COVID-19. His passing deeply affected Cecelia, and she missed him dearly every day. Cecelia was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life revolved around her family, and she poured her heart into raising her children and grandchildren.

In the years following Clifford's passing, Cecelia faced significant health challenges, including heart problems, COVID-19, pneumonia, and a blood clot in her lung. Despite her strength and determination, she passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:37 a.m., due to congestive heart failure. Cecelia will be remembered as a loving, selfless woman with a heart of gold. She was a devoted housewife who cherished her family and would do anything for those she loved. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cecelia is now reunited with her beloved husband, Clifford, her parents, and her sisters who have passed before her. While her absence leaves an unfillable void, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace and back in the arms of her soulmate.

She leaves behind her children and their families: Mona,  Joseph and his girlfriend Michelle and their son Tony, Rebecca and her boyfriend Rudy and their children Julius and Melanie, Nancy and her husband Josh and their children Cecelia her girlfriend Hope and Joshua, Kimberly and her husband Vince Chavez and their children Sabrina (husband Justin and baby Justin Jr.), Christina, Vince Jr., Nathanio, Savior, Davior, Alex, Kayden, Zackery, and their soon-to-be-born baby.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shown support during this difficult time through donations, food, calls, and prayers. Your love and kindness mean the world to them. Rest in peace, beautiful angel. Until we meet again.

Services for Cecelia will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562, Atrisco Dr. NW., on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. The visitation will begin at 8:00 am. The Rosary will be recited at  8:30 am and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 am. The interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 100 Edith Blvd. NE.

Cecelia's pallbearers will be Tony Maldonado, Vince Chavez, Vince Jr., Rudy Tafoya, Chris Martinez, Justin Schmitt, Joshua Anzures, and Julius Cook.
