Carol Jean Helm Markle was born on September 8, 1941 at Drayton, North Dakota and passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

She was the daughter of Christ and Ruby (Nelson) Helm. She was baptized on October 12, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Drayton and was confirmed on June 26, 1955 at this church.
Carol and her sisters worked with their parents on their family's farm.  She enjoyed spending time with her many cousins.  One cousin lived with their family for several years.  All were members of her church.

Carol attended Drayton School and graduated from Drayton High School in 1959.  During her high school years she enjoyed chorus, small singing groups and cheerleading.   Carol was active in Walther League, a youth group at church and was valedictorian of her class.
Carol furthered her education at the University of North Dakota completing her nursing degree in 1963. While at UND she joined Tri Delta sorority and sang in the University Chorus. Carol worked as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis. As well, she loved being in the outdoors, swimming, hiking and camping.

Carol chose further education in Littleton, Colorado where she got her Masters Degree in Psychiatric Nursing.  She was employed at the University of Nebraska and at the University of New Mexico in their counseling departments.  Because Carol was not given permission to share Jesus Christ in her counseling, she left that work to serve at Hosanna Tape Ministry in Albuquerque where she was library supervisor, counseling individuals and churches regarding biblical resources that could help meet their needs.

Carol met James Markle at Hosanna Tape Ministry, where he also served, and they were married on November 19, 1977. She is survived by husband James; her sisters, Clarice Mosolf and her late husband Marvin, Arlene Schuster and husband Charles, Pearl Schwarz and husband Ronald, Bonnie Graves and husband Randy; as well as other family members and friends who loved and will miss her.

Services will be held at Desert Springs Church, 705 Osuna Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113 on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The visitation will begin at 10:30 am. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. A light reception will follow the service and the burial will then take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul NE at 12:30 pm.
