C. Kristine Osnes, beloved companion, sister, and friend, passed away from complications of COVID on Wednesday, October 19. She had recently celebrated her 68th birthday. In December, she would have survived 13 years with a lung transplant.

Born to John and Betty (Havnen) Osnes, Kris graduated from Madelia High School in Madelia, MN, where she made lifelong friends of fellow students and instructors alike. She graduated from the University of Minnesota and in 1978, moved to Albuquerque, earned a master's in English at the University of New Mexico and earned a Juris Doctorate at the University of New Mexico School of Law. Following graduation (with honors) Kris clerked for New Mexico's first woman Supreme Court Justice, Mary Coon Walters. Kris then practiced law in Albuquerque with the Sager Law Firm and in Minneapolis with Robins Kaplan LLP.

Kris loved driving adventures. She drove the length of Route 66 and completed a trip around the circumference of the western U.S., ending with an overnight in a Canadian jail because she forgot to declare a gun locked in the glove compartment. She was an avid golfer and played various "shoot'em up" video games, her inner warrior saving the world. She was an avid reader and listener of audio books, often completing 80-90 books a year. Kris shared her belief in justice, a kinder and gentler world, the value of humor, and the value of the written word through her Walking Raven Facebook page and www.walkingraven.com.

Kris was predeceased by her parents, John and Betty, and her brother John. She is survived by her partner of 26 years, Darcy Bushnell, sister Mary Beth (Osnes) Anderson (Marc), many loving and loyal friends, as well as beloved pets. No memorial services are planned.
