Betty Jean
Dunkin
Nov 15, 1942 — Nov 23, 2023
Albuquerque
Betty Jean Dunkin entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, November 23,2023 at 6:28 p.m. She is survived by her loving husband, Chester Dunkin, of 63 years. Her final moments were spent peacefully at her home in Albuquerque where she passed surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband.
Betty Jean was born November 15th, 1942 and was the daughter of Felix and Lucille Encinio. She was the youngest of three children and was the lone survivor of her immediate family. Betty was a 1960 graduate of Albuquerque High. She loved being a Bulldog. Betty met the love of her life, Chester Dunkin and was married on October 15th 1960. She had two daughters, Cindra (Mike) Armijo and Amy (Aaron) Garcia. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was extremely proud of her six grandchildren, Autumn, Marcial, Nathan, Adrian Jordyn and Taylor and four great grandchildren Emilie, Gabriella Sofia and Milena.
Betty was a devoted Christian and shared her faith by the way she lived her life and by the example she was to her family, and friends. Betty also had a passion for Betty Boop, collecting Barbies and many other collectibles to name a few. She was an avid reader and crocheter among many other activities.
Betty's quick-witted humor and generous spirit touched everyone she met. Always selfless, she would be there for anyone at any time. She was a mentor to her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. While she may be missed by many we are thankful that she is with her heavenly Father and her family who she missed very much.
A celebration of life will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St NW, Albuquerque NM 87107 on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00 am. In honor of Betty we will be wearing red and black to commemorate her love of Betty Boop.
