It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Benjamin "Benny" E. Torres, 74 on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Benny was born in Willard, New Mexico on September 18, 1947, the youngest of his surviving siblings.

He attended Albuquerque High School and moved to California's bay area as a young man. While in California he developed a love of rock and roll of the era, a passion he would pass on to his children and grandchildren. Benny's years in California cultivated his devotion to CA sports teams, including the Dodgers, Raiders, and Lakers.

Upon returning to New Mexico, Benny worked in different industries, but ultimately found his calling working at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter. An avid dog lover, he often joked that he liked dogs more than people.

Benny was a great conversationalist and took joy in discussing controversial topics, especially politics. He will be remembered for his quick wit, clever sense of humor, love of boxing, B movies and most importantly the love and pride of his family.

Benny is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Rosella Torres, and his siblings Peggy and Joe Torres. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, God children and extensive family.

Services for Benny will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Direct Funeral Services.
