Barnabe Espinosa entered eternal life with our Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Born on April 19, 1953 in Magdalena, NM, Barney made his home in Albuquerque, NM.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Frances Espinosa; brothers, Jimmy, Paul and Raymond; sister, Barbara and by his stepson, Mark.
Barney is survived by his beloved spouse of over 13 years, MaryAnn; his daughters Veronica Peralta and husband Andrew, of San Antonio, TX; Margaret Espinosa and partner Gabriel, of Dallas, TX; as well as his stepdaughter, Messina Martinez and husband Eric, of Albuquerque, NM; his beloved grandchildren, Alyssa and fiancée Da'Vory, Corinthian, Luke, Isabella, Ricardo, Dominic, Amiyah, Nathan, Angelique, Marcus, and wife Bridey; three sweet great-grandchildren, Za'Ryah, Adonis and Elena; his siblings, Evelyn Perea and husband Mike, Gloria Koumis, Leo Espinosa and wife Rose; as well as sister-in-law, Erlinda all of Albuquerque, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends. Also surviving Barney is his dear little Max, a faithful and loving canine companion of the last several years who brought him much joy.
Barney served this country for 19 years in the United States Army as an E5 Sargeant with the 52nd Combat Engineer Battalion, including Desert Storm and the National Guard, Reserves Airborne. After an honorable discharge from the US Army, Barney was an active member of the American Legion Post 13 Honor Guard with which he conducted Honor Guard ceremonies for our Veterans. He personally participated in over 600 ceremonies in New Mexico and was recently presented with a Medal of Merit award for his service. In September of this year, he was presented with an award for 25 years of performing Honor Guard functions for Servicemen and Veterans. Barney loved to serve and honor others. His last rifle salute to a Veteran was two weeks prior to his hospitalization.
When Barney wasn't honoring fellow Veterans, he made his living as a landscaper. He loved being outdoors and maintaining properties for his clients. Barney loved fishing and hunting and a good ol' dance floor anytime he found one. Barney also loved wrestling and boxing matches, but most of all, he loved being surrounded by his family.
Barney, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. May you now be blessed with peace with our heavenly Father.
