Barbara Nell Reser took leave of her mortal family & friends on Christmas Eve 2023 to rejoin kith & kin in heaven with Jesus.  Barb passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, amid fervent prayers from near and far. This beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, and cherished friend will be sorely missed by her husband Terry, daughter Edlyna Marie, son Patrick Michael, daughter-in-law Sherry, and grandchildren Andrew, Madison, and Sydney, as well as an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Barb was preceded in death by her son Brendan Reser, parents Edward and Pearl Speer, sister Loveta Carroll, and brothers Gwynne and Bobby Golden.

Born in Batesville, AR on 11/22/1946, Barb lived in nearby Dracso, AR through the 1st grade, which we've long suspected influenced her tendency to kick off her shoes whenever she thought she might get away with it. Later she lived in Chama, NM; Edmonds, WA; and near Stevens Point, WI, and was well travelled throughout Europe and parts of Central America. Still, most of her life was spent in Albuquerque.

She had a wonderful singing voice and we enjoyed many nights of karaoke with her crew at the Coronado Club on Kirkland AFB.  She was a wonderful mom, an accomplished scuba diver, an amazing dancer, a fine legal secretary, and for 26 years earned accolades for providing exceptional service in the national interest at Sandia National Laboratories as an administrative assistant.

Barb was tenacious, fearless, candid, and a very vocal supporter of every one of her kids and grandkids in any sport they participated. And the teams always knew when she was at the game. She was also a dedicated 49ers fan who kept a life-size cardboard cutout of Steve Young in her office. Barb was quite funny and fun to be around. Many of our family's most rib-tickling memories were initiated by or centered on Barb. And that held true for her many close friends as well. She was also quite kind, caring, loving, and generous with her time and talents.

In younger years, Barb was a model for Flair Modeling. She also enjoyed riding her palomino mare Golden Lady along the ditch banks and near the Rio Grande in the north valley. She loved that horse and put a lot of stock in the notion that your favorite animals can join you in heaven. So, if you see someone galloping across a meadow up there on a golden chestnut with a flaxen mane & tail, give a wave — it might be Barb.

A funeral Mass for Barb will take place at 11:00 am, on January 12, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW (enter off San Isidro St.). A rosary will precede the Mass at 10:30 am, and refreshments will follow the Mass at the Parish Center. Internment will be at Sunset Memorial Park around 2:00 pm.
