Dr. Barbara June Wheeler Hill, "BJ", passed away Monday September 2nd, 2024 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Barbara June Wheeler is the first daughter born to her parents, Harry Frank Wheeler and Vera Lydia Currier. She was born 23 June 1929 in Whittier Las Angeles, California and she grew up in Norco and Corona, California graduating from Corona Senior High School in 1946. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Whittier College, in 1950, majoring in Music, Communication and Elementary Education. The Masters of Education was awarded from Whittier College in 1963, in Education Administration and Secondary Education. She earned her doctorate at The University of Southern California in 1973 in Los Angeles, California majoring in Labor Law, Employer-Employee Relations and Education.

She served 30 years as a teacher and administrator in several Southern California School Districts. Her last post was superintendant in the largest high school district in La Mesa, California.

As a professional musician she sang with Roger Wagner Master Chorale and The San Diego Master Chorale touring Europe, England and Scotland. Performances included The Hollywood Bowl, The Los Angeles Symphony under Alfred Wallenstein, CBS Records, KFI Radio "Tapestries of Melody" Series and at several movie Studios.

As a member of International Training in Communication for 30 years she was a National motivational speaker, trainer, seminar presenter and international speech winner.

As President of The Julian Education Foundation she spearheaded a 3.8 million dollar project to build a public San Diego County Library in Julian, California.

She was a private pilot, owned her own airplane and was a watercolor and stained glass artist. Barbara June is a 50 year genealogist and a member of The National Society of Daughters of The American Revolution #672148 through her ancestor, John Bradstreet, a Revolutionary War Veteran.

She leaves son, Scott Lance Hill; grandchildren, Michael David Hill and Christopher William Hill of Tucson AZ, Nicole Cherise Hill Cottom of Riverside, CA. and James Harrison Hill of Marana, AZ.; nephew, Chris and Cathy Wyrick of Kalispell, MT., and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

BJ will be interred with her late husband, Tony, at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
