Anthony Allen
Pennington
Jul 3, 1950 — Feb 27, 2025
Albuquerque
Anthony, Sweetheart, Son, Dad, Pa, Bobber, Brother, Tony, Uncle Tony, Uncle Preacher, Pastor Anthony, Brother Anthony, Brother P, AP and Bro was never a stranger and was a friend to all in need. Anthony Allen Pennington, 74, of Albuquerque, NM, was called home by the Lord on February 27, 2025.
Anthony was born in Teague, Texas in 1950 to Loy Helen (Stevens) and Isaac Murphy Pennington, who loved him and his brother, Gerald, dearly. Ike and Loy encouraged them both and brought them up to know Christ. Anthony spent his school years in Buffalo, Texas where he was very close to his classmates and remained in contact with many of them throughout his life. He had very fond memories of playing football and running track during his school years in Buffalo.
Anthony met the love of his life, Mary Latham, in the fall of 1970 in Kirvin, Texas on a blind date. Mary didn't know it, but for Anthony it was love at first sight. The two were married in 1971, and their love for each other never faded.
Anthony and Mary couldn't wait to start a family. His children, David and Amy, meant the world to him. Pa enjoyed spending time playing games, going to the mountains and just being with his grandchildren, Ryan, Grace, Julie, Joey, Chloe, Haley, and his grandchildren in love, Joseph and Cameron.
Anthony loved people and had more friends than could be counted. He treated every person with the love of God and regarded them as his family.
Anthony loved Jesus and served Him in the ministry as a pastor, church planter, missionary and chaplain from 1975 until he graduated to heaven. There were enumerable places that the Lord led him to, and countless lives that were touched by his service through Christ.
Everyone that Anthony knew could attest to his love for motorcycles, the Dallas Cowboys, nature, and friendships. If possible, he would have ridden his motorcycle to heaven and maybe stop a few places to fish with friends along the way.
We will always miss hearing his words of encouragement and couldn't have asked for a better husband, father and grandfather. We will miss him every day, but he will live on in the hearts of all of us who loved him. Anthony was preceded in death by his mother and father, Loy and Ike Pennington, and is survived by his wife, Mary Pennington, son, David Pennington and wife Ann Marie, daughter, Amy Vincent and husband Bryon, and his grandchildren Ryan Pennington, Grace and Joseph Garibay, Juliana and Cameron Chavez- Kerr, Joey Pennington, Chloe Vincent, Haley Vincent and his first best friend and brother, Gerald Pennington and wife Anita.
Anthony will always be remembered for his love for Jesus, his joyous countenance, boisterous laugh, and his kindness to others. He always had a joke or funny story to share and wanted to bring life and hope to all that he encountered. Most of all, his greatest joy was leading people to accept Christ as their savior. This is what Anthony would have urged you to do if you met him today. If you haven't accepted Christ, know that God loves you and is calling you to be His son or daughter.
