Anthony (Tony) Joseph Vandenberg Jr., 82, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away quietly at home on October 13, 2023 with his family around him after battling Parkinson's Disease and heart failure.

Tony was born on February 16, 1941 in Albuquerque, to Evelyn and Anthony Vandenberg. He attended The Abbey School in Colorado and St. Michael's College in Santa Fe, NM. He had a varied career, centered on owning and managing restaurants and bakeries, including Tony's Donuts. He and his wife lived in Dumas, Arkansas for more than thirty years, where he was a valued member of the community. He never met a stranger and always had a kind word, a sage piece of advice, a dry joke, or just a willing ear for anyone he encountered. He and Patty returned to Albuquerque in 2008 to be near family and friends.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas Vandenberg. He will be remembered as the beloved husband of Patricia Walker Vandenberg, beloved father of Gayle Vandenberg and Nancy Rodriguez, dear father-in-law to Mike Rossman and Rene Rodriguez, and exceptional grandfather of Antonio Rodriguez. Also left behind are his loving extended family, including brother Robert Vandenberg and family, sister-in-law JoAnn Vandenberg and family, brother-in-law Doyle Rice Jr. and family, and sister-in-law Gwen Zwoyer and family. Those closest to him will remember him as a lover of learning, laughter and music and a model of kindness.
