It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Anthony "Tono" Castillo. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and beloved friend to many. He passed away at age 70 on September 21, 2023. He was born on October 23, 1952, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Elizaria and Thomas Castillo.
He is preceded in death by his son Daniel Garcia and nephews Mathew Cavalier, Victor Baros and Leonard Baros. Brother Tommy Castillo and sister Nestorita Baros.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 44 years Ida; 2 sons Angelo and wife Natalie and Adam Castillo; four grandsons, Juan Morales, Elias Morales, Angelo Castillo and Adam Castillo; two granddaughters Selena Archibeque and Angelina Castillo; one brother Ramon Castillo; two sisters Flora Cavalier and fiancé Silverio and his twin sister Patricia Quinn and husband Jack; numerous nieces and nephews and God children whom he loved dearly.
He was a man of great faith praying the rosary on his daily walks. He loved the game of golf and was president of John Lawrence Post 13 Veteran Golf League. He played every chance he got, made so many lifetime friends. Anthony's warm smile and kind heart left a lasting impact on everyone. His sense of humor lit up any room he entered.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 30, 2023, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 1500 Southern Blvd. S.E. Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. A Reception will follow at Post 13, 1201 Legion Rd. N.E. at 1:30 P.M. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are James Martinez, James Baca, Bobby Jaramillo, Thomas Cavalier, Michael De Herrera and Richard Torrez. Honorary pallbearers are Toby Garcia II, Tee Cavalier, Jack Quinn, Gerald Cavalier, Ramon Castillo, Ray Wright, Jonathan Dow, Rick Navarro, Gary Gonzales and Matt Van Dyke.
His sweet memories will remain forever in our hearts!
