Anita was the 10th child of that marriage. The early death of her mother left Anita and her nine brothers and sisters without a mother.

Anita was adopted and raised by midwife, Tonita Sanchez and her husband Felipe Sanchez. Tonita and Felipe later became step-grandparents to the remaining 9 children as the result of the marriage of Ernesto to their daughter, Juanita.

Anita joins her 8 departed brothers and sisters in Heaven; Fannie Sanchez, Ernesto Sanchez Jr., Alfonso Sanchez, Juven Sanchez, Priscilla DeBlassie, Maclovia Zamora, Victoria Lucero and Celina DeLilla. She is survived by her loving sister, Frances Sanchez- Chisholm and husband, Charles Chisholm of Rancho Mirage, California. She is also survived by her aunt, Ann Sanchez whom she loved dearly, sisters-in law, Cecilia, wife of Alfonso Sanchez and Susie, wife of Juven Sanchez and many beloved nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Anita was raised in Old Town and attended San Felipe Catholic School in her early years. She then went on to enroll at Albuquerque High School were she graduated with honors and was voted Senior Class Secretary and Treasurer. She was an outstanding student and was  a member of the Honor Society.

Anita was a devout Catholic and loved to pray. She loved God above all things. Anita's artistic abilities included painting and crocheting lovely items for family and friends. She also was an avid Checkers player and would challenge anyone to a game. She recently celebrated her 85th birthday. Anita's favorite quote was, "Death and love are the two wings that bear the good man to heaven."

The family would like to give a special thank you to Teresa Garcia, her friend, caretaker and angel on earth. Teresa's love and care for "Annie" was endless and for that, we are forever grateful.

Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:30 am.

Internment will then take place at Our Lady of Belen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the National Alliance on Mental Illness may be made.
