Ana Maria
Sedillo
Jul 26, 1930 — Sep 9, 2023
Albuquerque
Ana Maria Sedillo went to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 9, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She passed peacefully in her home with two of her daughters, Gloria and Mary at her side.
Ana Maria was born July 26, 1930 in Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, Mexico. She moved to the United States as a young adult. While working in Alamogordo, NM, she met a handsome man, Benito Sedillo, who would be her husband, soulmate and the father of their 9 children. After marrying they moved to Albuquerque where they worked and raised their children. Married 50 years, they were best friends and inseparable until death parted them in 2006. Ana Maria was a devoted caregiver to her husband, children and grandchildren. Her doors to her home were always open and no one left with an empty stomach. She would whip up a delicious meal, quickly and easily. She enjoyed gardening, she had a green thumb and could grow anything. Ana Maria also liked antiquing. Both of these pastimes resulted in to two businesses. She was a great cook, an excellent seamstress, enjoyed quilting and collecting dolls. She was an avid recycler who cared about the planet. Ana Maria loved music and would listen to it every morning. She was also a long-time supporter of Feed the Children. She retired from PNM after 20 years of dedicated employment. She loved the Lord and said she would talk to Him daily, sometimes, many times daily, depending on her day.
Ana Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Benito Sedillo; daughter, Sylvia Rivera; two sons, Benny and Herman Sedillo and by her grandson, Michael Sanchez.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Sedillo, Margaret Sedillo, Yolanda and husband Craig Pippin, Teresa Sedillo, Lupita Sedillo, and Gloria Sedillo; 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
The family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice, her nurse, Vanessa, for the kindness and compassion in caring for our mother in her final weeks of her life.
Services will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW on Wednesday September 27, 2023. The Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by the Rosary and Prayer Service at 11:00am.
