Alfonso Jose Barbero "Fonchie" was born in Las Vegas New Mexico  on October 05, 1936. He passed away peacefully at The Veterans Hospital, Albuquerque New Mexico, on Sunday, May 08, 2022. He went on to be with the Lord at the age of 85 years old.

Alfonso was honored and very proud to be a Marine, "Semper Fidelis" ("Always Faithful"). He honorably served his country in the United Stated Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; daughter-in-law, Liz Barbero; sister, Dora Armijo, and by his step-son, Clarence Chavez.

He is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Joseph and wife Liz, David and wife Joann; one granddaughter, Kristen Barbero; two grandsons, Joey and wife Destiny Barbero, Marcus and fiancé Ashley Barbero; five great-grandchildren; step-sons, Dennis, Johnny, and Ermie; step-daughters, Christine and Charline and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as other family members and friends who loved and will miss him.

Services will be held at Calvary Chapel at, 4001 Osuna Rd. NE. Albuquerque, NM. 87109 on Tuesday, July 19 ^th 2022 at 11:00 am. A Reception will follow at Garcia's Kitchen 4917 4th St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107.

The burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501 , on Wednesday, on July 20 ^th 2022 at 11:00 am with USMC Honors.
