It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Alex (Hun) Sanchez, age 69, passed away after a short battle with cancer, in his hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday, December 4, 2021.

Alex was born on April 2, 1952 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Alex was preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Jeremy Sanchez.  He is survived by his wife, Rita Sanchez; their son, Robert Sanchez and wife Sandy, and five grandchildren.   He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who loved and will miss him.

Alex married Rita on September 29, 1973.  Alex and Rita moved to Farmington where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for PNM for 33 years.  During his time at PNM, he was a proud IBEW member and volunteered on many employee groups. Alex was devout Catholic and committed to Perpetual Adoration at his parish in Farmington for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered as a baseball coach for both of his sons.  While he loved his career and his volunteer activities, his greatest joy was his family.  He loved family gatherings.  His sense of humor was one of a kind.  He loved camping, fishing, playing horseshoes, the Colorado Rockies, the New Mexico Lobos and rooting against the Dallas Cowboys.

A Rosary will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15 with a Funeral Mass to immediately follow at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo, NM.  In accordance with Town of Bernalillo guidelines, masks must be worn inside the church.  Burial services will be private and held at a later date. There will be no reception due to church restrictions.
