Alana Rene LaValle

1947 - 2026

Alana Rene LaValle passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, after a long illness in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Born February 16, 1947, in Moss Point, Mississippi, Alana traveled the world as a young woman with her parents, following her father's military postings in Osaka, Japan, and New Ulm, Germany. She attended the Mississippi University for Women but did not graduate. She married in Clovis, New Mexico and raised three sons there, before divorcing and moving back to her birthplace, coastal Mississippi. She remained close with her parents throughout her life. She was a creative person, painting, crafting and using her artist's eye. She loved her cats and would always take in strays, human or animal. In her later years, she moved back to New Mexico to be nearer her sons who lived there.

She is survived by her eldest son, Erik (Tom Klein); her youngest son, Bradley; 3 granddaughters, Olivia and Maren (Erik) and Isabella (Michael). She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Anita Salo, and by her middle son, Michael. She will be deeply missed.

The family will hold a private ceremony, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA.
