Obituary

"Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth." - Saint Paul

On February 25th, 2023 - after 98 years - Adelina "Lena" Martinez passed away peacefully in her sleep to join the Lord and her beloved husband of 78 years, Selez Martinez. She was born Adelina Felix, to Filiberto and Vicenta Felix of Moriarty and Tajique, New Mexico the oldest of one sister, and three brothers. Rarely in life does a single individual touch the lives of so many with love, kindness, wisdom and happiness in the way Lena did with her countless friends and family members. Lena's charm and beauty shone brightest when rewarding her 13 children, and countless grand, great and great-great grandchildren with her unique brand of New Mexican cooking, sharing stories from her long, captivating life, or playing the odds at a casino or bingo. It was undoubtedly her captivating character which attracted the love of her life "Selez" who, immediately after returning home from World War II married Lena on October 23rd, 1945. Although her later years were hard struggling with Alzheimer's disease she never lost her priceless love for family and life. The family wishes to thank her son and granddaughter, Lawrence and Erika Martinez who selflessly gave countless years to ensure Lena spent her final years at home living in dignity, love, peace and comfort.
